June 18th - Back on track

After yesterday's washout I was pretty eager to get a good training day under my belt.  The weather was iffy again this morning but I went to the Y prepared to swim but with a backup plan to run on the treadmill (ugh) if swimming wasn't possible.

The weather this morning held up and I was able to get a good 2400 yard swim in before the pool started to fill up with kids and old ladies.  I'm swimming pretty well, although not as fast as I was hoping.  That shouldn't be a problem in Lake Placid because I will have 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete the swim and I am hoping to take advantage of drafting as much as possible.

After the swim the weather wasn't looking all that great so I decided that since I had my running stuff with me I would just head upstairs and do my run on the treadmill.  The treadmill is not my favorite piece of equipment but I do have to say that my knee felt really good while I was running.  I'm sure that it was because of the reduced impact.  I did 90 minutes on the mill and changed my run/walk ratio to 4 minutes running and 3 minutes walking.  This seemed to work really well and I covered over 8 miles in that 90 minutes.  Now I will have to figure out the best way to time my ratio while I am running so that I don't have to keep looking at my watch while I am running.

Tomorrow will most likely be just a bike ride in the morning for about 2.5 hours.  I have another run scheduled, but since we will be spending the afternoon poolside I doubt that I will be in any mood to go out for a run afterward.

I also did an upper body workout today:
Push ups - 4x25
Pull ups- 4x20
