Today was a scheduled brick workout day. I had a 2 hour ride and a 1 hour run/walk on the calendar. It went very well. The new bike set up is really working out and my back and neck were much more comfortable. I covered about 36 miles in just over 2 hours today. I noticed that my legs were a bit tired at times on the ride but I was able to ride through it and they held up pretty well. There was a little bit of discomfort in my knee at the beginning of the ride but that faded pretty quickly.
Today's run would be the first time I tried out Dr. Karyn's suggestion that I use the Couch to 5k podcasts to govern my run intervals. It had me at a ratio of 2 minutes running to 3 minutes walking. This actually turned out to be a very comfortable ratio and one that I may end up sticking close to for the IMLP. I'd like to run more than I walk but we will have to wait and see if that will be possible. The C25k workouts are only an hour, so I just continued the 3/2 until I reached an hour. At the end I felt really good with only a small amount of soreness in my knee. I guess she really does know what she is talking about.
Tomorrow is a long run/walk day so I will continue with the same ratio for a little while before increasing it a bit.
I haven't weighed in for a few weeks, and I have to say that my eating habits haven't been that great. On the other hand I have noticed with my increased workouts that I am hungry more often, and that I have put on a bit of muscle mass from the strength workouts. When I stepped on the scale this morning it definitely went in the wrong direction, but I should be able to fix that over the next few weeks.
