May 21st & May 22nd - ART is great!

On Monday Dr. Karyn tried one of the new Active Release Techniques (ART) she learned at her conference last week.  It was as if she performed a miracle.  It has greatly reduced the pain at the back of my knee when flexing to almost nothing.  I still get a little sore when working out but nothing like it was before.  Whoever came up with this stuff is a genius. Yesterday I did a 2000yd swim in the morning with some sprints at the end.  I was also able to get a 4.8 mile walk in during planning which was good because we had the Coweta County Middle School Coaches Banquet last night as well.  I ate my fair share of cheeseburger and steak fries.  By 8:30pm my eyes were drooping and I was more than ready for bed.  Getting up at 4am to work out takes its toll.

Today I did a 5.2 mile walk in the morning with Kelly and Hank.  My knee was a bit sore but it ended up feeling good most of the day.  It's clearly the end of the school year because I went to PT today and when I got there I realized that my appointment was actually for tomorrow.  Dr. Karyn agreed to see me since I was already there and it ended up working out better for everyone anyway.  Today was more of a progress appointment for her to report to the surgeon when I go see him on the 4th.  Karyn will be on a cruise next week so I will have 2 sessions with Tina instead.  She hurt me last time (in a good way) but I think we did some moves that I wasn't quite ready for.  I think Karyn will lay out a plan this time for me since last time was an unexpected switch.

After PT I did a 31 mile ride in an hour and 45 minutes and it felt great.  I'm getting used to more time in the saddle so I will be increasing my riding length as time allows.
