May 6th and 7th - Oops I missed it again

In my hurry to get to bed before it got dark yesterday I forgot to post.  The weather was pretty crappy yesterday so I was only able to get in one workout.  I swam 1700 yards in the morning and I think my new breathing pattern is finally starting to become more comfortable...no headache.  My knee feels great in the water and pushing off the wall doesn't even bother it.  It was really sore and tired yesterday from the workouts over the weekend.  I may have pushed a little too hard during Saturday's trainer ride and following that up with a walk and another ride on Sunday didn't give my knee time to recover.  Because of that I didn't do too much actual work at PT yesterday and she spent much of the time massaging my knee.  The massage work was very intense but when she was done, nearly all the soreness was gone.  I had to make sure that I kept talking to her while she worked to take my mind off the discomfort.  She suggested that I ice as well, and that I should be icing any time I have soreness like that.

Today, I was able to get in two training sessions and a leg workout in the weight room.  I swam another 1700 yards this morning and did my pool running and sidesteps.  I had a few minutes before a meeting during planning today so I made sure to hit the weight room.  I added in a set of lunges on each leg today.  I am ready for this grade repair program to be over.  I was stuck there again with kids until 6pm.  I forced myself to go out for a ride even though it has been unusually cool out.  I was out for an hour and a half and covered about 25 miles.  I didn't push hard or try to increase my average speed, I just focused on riding as steady as possible given the hilly route.  The more hills I ride now the better off I will be in Lake Placid.  Since I didn't get back until almost 8pm and I was starving, I made the executive decision to skip my at home PT exercises.  Since I do them every day twice a day and I did some leg work today I think it will be OK.  Tomorrow I am planning on walking in the morning and I will have PT in the evening so I will try to squeeze in a core workout and maybe some upper body work too.

Today's leg work:
Extensions - 3x15 (machine + 7.5lbs)
Curls - 3x15 (machine + 5lbs)
Calf-raises - 3x15
Lunges - 1x10
