May 5th - A break in the weather

We had a break in the weather for most of the day today, so I was able to get a couple of good workouts in.  Kelly was out late last night because she had to chaperone the Northgate High School Prom, so while she slept in until 10am I went out for a morning walk with Hank.  We covered 5 miles in 70 minutes.  I noticed that my knee was a bit sore and tired and I think it was from yesterday's ride on the trainer.  I pushed pretty hard during the commercials to simulate hills and although my knee felt fine during the workout it was noticeably tired at the end.

Also on the schedule for today was another 90 minute ride.  My knee was hurting a bit and we almost didn't go, but I decided to at least get out and see how it felt.  If it was really bothering me I was ready to call it a day and rest it.  Fortunately it felt fine, but I made sure to make today's ride all about time in the saddle rather than pushing it and working on speed or strength.  We covered 24 miles in 90 minutes.  I also made sure that I wasn't trying to push hard gears, power up hills or stand up on pedals during the ride.

Tomorrow I will have an early morning swim and I will try to get in a walk if there is time.  It's tough to go out and start a workout at 6:30 or 7pm after getting back from PT.
